Welcome to my "about Me Page"!
Since you are here, it is OK to assume that you want to know a little bit about me. Well there are a lot of years to sum up into one little page, but I will try. I started my teaching career at Paradise Elementary in the school year '89/'90. The first 5 years were taught teaching 3rd grade, the next 19 were in 2nd grade. In 2010 I received my Masters in Educational Technology Leadership, from Lamar University. In 2014, I started teaching technology skills to all these 21 century learners! I absolutely love my job!
I am married and have been for a long time. I have 3 children and 5 grand-kids. My family and I love to go camping back in the woods or mountains, where no one else goes. Rain or snow or beautiful weather, you will find us every summer up in the mountains or on a babbling brook where the hummingbirds hum and the bluebirds sing. The last few summers we decided to go SCUBA diving. We have been SCUBA divers for a long time and had a wonderful time see turtles, green morays and many different kinds of fish.
I have always been interested in technology. I was very excited when they introduced computers into our classroom. I did not know how to use them for teaching except as a typewriter. Then the World Wide Web became available which really had an impact on my interest for technology. My plan for the future is to make sure the students have a good knowledge of how a computer works and how to be safe on the computer. I would also like to teach teachers technology. I want to help them integrate technology into the classroom. I was watching a video from our PD360 site, and the man lecturing said, “91% of all jobs have some kind of technology associated with it- teaching is not one of them” (Daggett). That phrase really stuck with me. If 91% of all jobs require technology, this should be a priority for educators. This is one of the reasons I decided to get a Master's in Technology Education.
